The SmarTech 278DL2 Dual Band Delta Loop for 27-28 MHz (11-10m bands) has been specifically engineered for those who require continuous coverage on the two different bands without the need to switch antennas or improperly use a monoband model on a different band.
Offering excellent efficiency on both bands, the antenna guarantees reliable performance regardless of the operating frequency. Our engineers have optimized the antenna to provide maximum gain and low SWR for both the 11m and 10m bands, making it the perfect choice for 27 MHz enthusiasts and 28 MHz amateur radio operators.
Made with the highest quality materials and SmarTech mechanical know-how, the 278DL2 antenna is built to last and offers exceptional performance.
This antenna is ideal for those who require a small, lightweight, and high-performing system. It is low-noise and free from electrostatic noise, with excellent signal-to-noise ratio and electrostatic noise rejection, ensuring optimal efficiency even when other types of antennas are unusable.
The Delta Loop can be mounted on a lightweight support such as a TV pole or small rotor and reaches its characteristic performance even at low heights above the ground. Radiation patterns clearly demonstrate that the 278DL2 is suitable for both long-distance DX and medium/short-range contests.

Aluminum systems offer a significantly longer lifespan and better resistance to wind loads compared to fiberglass structures. This ensures the antenna geometry (shape) remains intact, preventing sudden changes in impedance and efficiency, and maintaining overall performance levels.
The SmarTech Delta Loop antennas are designed to achieve the best configuration for maximum forward gain, improved Front-to-Back ratio, improved Front-to-Side ratio, and a cleaner radiation pattern. This is possible because simulation approaches are not constrained by the limitations of 50 ohm (or any other) impedance configurations, as is the case with direct feed antennas using coaxial cable. The constraints imposed by specific project impedances significantly limit the selection of optimal solutions, which result in the adoption of lower-quality configurations with greater performance compromises.
The Delta Loop SmarTech antennas, on the other hand, are designed using the most advanced calculation methods. The impedance matching is performed by a specific and high-quality gamma match system, ensuring the best signal transfer and extremely high efficiency levels of the whole antenna system.
The main structure of the antenna is made of an aluminum alloy EN AW-6060/82 UNI9006/1 (Anticorodal 60/100), which provides greater durability against aggressive atmospheric agents (ice, water, UV rays, fine dust, acid rain), and better resistance to the mechanical stresses of wind.
SmarTech antennas are also supplied, depending on the model and specific mechanical requirements, with parts in Aisi 304 stainless steel (Austenitic Stainless Steel UNI/EN 10088) and parts in steel compliant with the resistance classes designated by the EN ISO 898-1 standard: 2013.
The horizontal wire is one of the most important components of the antenna, as it carries the highest current, and the RF radiation is maximum. Therefore, the quality of the material determines the system efficiency to a great extent.
SMARTECH has focused its utmost care and efforts on producing a specific, special wire consisting of 99.99% pure copper with an antioxidation coating and insulated with a special polymer. The wire is also used in military and aerospace applications due to its excellent dielectric properties (better insulation than glass), abrasion and tear resistance, UV resistance, and chemical solvent attack resistance. It has an IDT of 8 kV and can operate at temperatures ranging from -65°C to +150°C.
A high-efficiency Gamma Match is used to adapt the 27DL2 (relative dielectric constant εr=2.0 @1 MHz - with better dielectric properties than fiberglass and polyethylene, and a dielectric strength of 600kV) to 50 ohms. The power rating can go up to 5 kW (optional).
The antenna is designed to achieve maximum electrical efficiency and the best mechanical strength and durability, thanks to the quality of the materials used. It is also suitable for installation in particularly aggressive environments, such as high-altitude mountainous areas or coastal areas with a highly corrosive atmosphere.
SmarTech antennas are made using materials and technological solutions that minimize parasitic resistances (which produce unwanted RF dissipations) along the entire radio frequency signal path.
The costs include proper packaging, completion of customs documentation, and 24/7 shipping tracking. All products are shipped using the most important and reliable international couriers.
